Impressions and Opinions on it-sa 2013

lessChristine Skropke, Head of Marketing, secunet
“it-sa definitely offers the best opportunity in Germany for finding the right customers in the IT security segment. All the major themes are concentrated under one roof and you can see from the visitors that quality is top priority here! This aspect is particularly important for secunet, because IT security and high-level IT security are sensitive and demanding issues. In Nürnberg we meet the right contacts for discussing their individual requirements on the spot. We have been there right from the start and it is clearly noticeable how the exhibition is becoming more professional from year to year. it-sa is a permanent feature in our exhibition calendar!”
lessManfred Bischoff, IT System Consultant, Rittal Sales and Logistics Centre, Garching
“We had 20 per cent more visitors than last year on the first two days of the exhibition alone. We are very satisfied and looking forward to extra impetus for Rittal’s IT business.”
lessBernd Wilhelm, Manager Inside Sales and Events, baramundi
“As a supplier of security solutions for client management, we have our own presentation at the exhibition to show users how they can achieve uniform security standards for all equipment in their corporate network. As we leave nothing to chance in actively acquiring customers, we have a lot of staff present to advise existing and potential customers in detail – this has made the exhibition very successful so far. The visitors are mainly interested in how they can reliably enforce compliance directives in mobile equipment.”
  lessNadine Schreiber, Inside Sales, op5
“it-sa is one of op5’s most important and successful events every year. The subject of IT monitoring was in great demand at it-sa 2013 and attracted more interested visitors to our stand than ever before. For some months now we have noticed a trend that independent monitoring is becoming more and more important at times of cloud computing. The benefit of IT monitoring is also becoming increasingly clear at the management level. Especially here it is important to explain the benefit of an IT monitoring tool and show the added value for the company. Our presentation on this at the Management Forum was very well attended. As the biggest and most important IT security exhibition in the DACH region, it-sa is one of the top platforms for op5. We’ve been here for four years and can already say we’ll be back again at the next edition.”
lessRui Melo Biscaia, Director of Product Management, Watchfull
“The trade show met Watchful’s expectations. The company was able to generate business leads and establish solid partnership agreements. The atmosphere was extremely enjoyable.A business atmosphere promoted interaction between visitors and brands present at the show.As far as information security is concerned, the new trend seems to be that breach prevention has been all about ‘reinforcing the perimeter’ to protect what lies within. While this remains good and necessary IT practice, it takes no account of two very important and inescapable truths:Users are always inside the perimeter, and even authorised users can cause significant damage.By ignoring these, CIOs fail to address possibly the most fundamental persistent threat, that of a breach orchestrated by one or more of their organisation’s own users. The antidote to this insider threat is to arrange persistent protection and control over information at all times. So far we have decided to be present again in 2014. As for any trade show, at the end it all boils down to what’s the return on investment. The ROI analysis we did this year makes it really easy to decide to come again in 2014.”
lessBernhard Reich, Regional Sales Director DACH, CEE, GUS at Infoblox
“Infoblox was present at it-sa 2013 for the first time with its own stand. We can sum up the event very positively: the visitors were very interested and especially technically well informed. There were many good discussions and our demos on the stand also received a good response. We made many leads and are also satisfied with the number of potential new customers with firm project potential we have spoken to at it-sa. During the talks we noticed a stronger awareness of the significance of the DNS/DHCP infrastructure in connection with security issues and attack scenarios. On the press side, the talks focused on DNS attacks: The questions we answered most frequently were: What kind of DNS attacks are there, what damage can they cause, how have risks changed in the past years, and what can companies do to combat these problems. Based on the many good talks we had on our stand, we will almost certainly be back again next year.”

“(ISC)2 has been participating at IT-SA since it was first established, and we believe the quality of the event improves year on year. With our growing membership, our well respected local Chapter, new credential programmes, and the opportunity to meet with professionals who intend to start their journey toward professional certification, this event provides an ideal platform for (ISC)2 to showcase its array of membership services. We look forward to continuing and building our presence at IT-SA and in Germany.”
