Bitkom represents more than 2,500 companies in the digital economy, of which a good 1,700 direct members. They achieve with 2 million employees annually domestic revenues of 190 billion euros. Bitkoms members include 1,000 medium-sized companies, more than 400 start-ups and almost all global players. They offer software, IT services, telecommunications or Internet services, provide hardware or consumer electronics ago, are in the field of digital media or the network economy operate or otherwise part of the digital economy. 80 percent of companies have their headquarters in Germany, 8 percent from Europe, 8 percent from the US and 4 percent from Asia, most of them from Japan. Bitkom engages primarily for an innovative economic policy, modernizing the education system and a future-oriented power politics.
