Bitkom represents more than 2,200 companies in the digital economy, of which a good 1,400 direct members. They achieve with 700,000 employees annually domestic revenues of 140 billion euros and available for exports of a further 50 billion euros. Its members include 1,000 medium-sized companies, more than 250 start-ups and almost all global players. They offer software, IT services, telecommunications or Internet services, provide hardware or consumer electronics ago, are in the field of digital media or the network economy operate or otherwise part of the digital economy. 76 percent of companies have their headquarters in Germany, 10 percent from Europe, 9 percent from the US and 5 percent from other regions. Bitkom engages primarily for an innovative economic policy, modernizing the education system and a future-oriented power politics.
