it-sa insights: ENISA's efforts on bringing communities together to secure Industry 4.0
Industry 4.0 is rapidly becoming a reality, making use of intelligent, interconnected cyber-physical systems to automate all phases of industrial operations, spanning from design and manufacturing to operation, supply chain and service maintenance. While this cross-system, integrated use of IoT-based technologies will naturally lead to higher productivity and competitiveness, more flexibility and will instigate new business models, it also comes with unique challenges when it comes to cyber security. With a great impact on citizens’ safety, security and privacy due to its cyber-physical nature, the threat landscape concerning Industry 4.0 and IoT is extremely wide. ENISA will present its ongoing efforts towards strengthening IoT and Industry 4.0 cyber security by introducing baseline security measures to support and build a secure and trustworthy ecosystem. Taking into account the particularities of Industry 4.0 and IoT, ENISA will also highlight the significance of its international cooperation and coordination efforts as the future European Cybersecurity Agency. The importance of involving government, academia and industry in establishing trust relationships is particularly prominent in the context of Industry 4.0. Therefore ENISA will take the opportunity to present some of ENISA's efforts on stakeholder engagement, in particular it will present and invite the audience to find more about its activities and mission concerning public private cooperation.
