it-sa 2009: 35,000 retrievals of expert knowledge since the trade fair

Friday, 20. November 2009

Handouts and videos of 180 technical presentations on IT security available free of charge on the internet / 35,000 visitors so far / next it-sa: 19 to 21 October 2010

Gau-Algesheim, 19 November 2009. The public forums in the exhibition halls were once again a key element of this year’s IT security trade fair it-sa in Nuremberg. Experts shared their specialist knowledge with the 6,600 visitors in over 180 presentations given on three lecture podiums. The handouts and videos of these technical presentations are available to download free of charge on the internet at www.it-sa.de/programm. In this way it is possible even after the event to benefit from the information and tips provided by the IT security experts. In the four weeks since the trade show closed its doors, this “virtual trade fair” has attracted no fewer than 35,000 visitors.

So far the daily live hacking presentations by IT security experts at the forums and the various round-table discussions on subjects of topical interest in the industry have proved the most popular videos. According to statistics provided by the organiser SecuMedia, the next most popular items have been the opening speech from Martin Schallbruch, IT Director of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, and the keynote speeches from Taher Elgamal, one of the world’s leading experts on computer, network and information security.

“The success of it-sa this year and now the particularly keen demand for the technical presentations delivered at the trade fair show just how great the need for sound information on the subject of IT security is in companies, research establishments and public agencies. Together with the IT security industry, we have created in it-sa an invaluable platform in this area,” said Veronika Laufersweiler, trade fair director. The date for the next it-sa in Nuremberg has already been set: 19 to 21 October 2010.
